More July News…For Reasons

Hi! Today is the day. If you have been eagerly anticipating an audio version of The Happy Hour Choir, it is officially here! You can select which ever audio retailer your heart desires here. Want to check out audio from the library? If you make a request, your local librarian just might honor it. Also, requesting that libraries carry a copy of a book you want to read isn’t just economical; it’s doing the Lord’s work.

Someone’s going to ask this question, so I’m going to answer it. Yes. I am still working on Little Miss Petty. I have until the end of this month, thank you very much. I have, however, learned a very valuable lesson: if you write a book about pettiness, the book just might be petty with you. I was chatting with Sonali Dev, and she said, “you know we wrestle with every book.” Well, color me Captain America before the super soldier serum getting beat up in a back alley while saying, “I could do this all day.”

Anyhoo…Despite my ongoing battles, I will be making some appearances in the next few months, and I would love to see a human face and to remember how real people interact with each other.

July 26th Signing—The Reading Attic in Marietta, GA—1:00-3:00 (Yes, I put this in big type because it is THIS SATURDAY, and I would love to see you. If you haven’t already been to this bookstore on the Square, now is your chance. Oh, hey. And I will be giving away one of my novellas to anyone who purchases Nobody’s Perfect)

August 4-15 Online class—The Nice Girl’s Guide to Conflict—Central Ohio Fiction Writers—registration link coming

August5ish—I’m going to New York where I will see superagent Sarah Younger and stay in the freakin’ Algonquin. Yes, I will look for a round table. Yes, I will attempt to write Dorothy Parkeresque poetry. Yes, I know Julia Davis, proprietor of the Book Worm is laughing right now because I said I always worry about myself when I think, “I wanna go to New York!” I’m trying something different. I’m gonna attempt to visit an honest-to-goodness museum instead of being stuck in Times Square with the Naked Cowboy and Faux Elmo.*

August 23rd—Book Club Discussion—Birch Tree Bookstore in Dallas, GA—11:00am-12:30pm (There will be Book Club Badges for those who attend)

September 20—Workshop with purchase of book—Novel 101: An AMA About Publishing—Read it Again Books in Suwanee—3:00

Let’s talk about Book Clubs. Did you know that I like to visit them? I will answer questions, even difficult questions. I’ve learned things, too. Once, in a discussion of The Happy Hour Choir, I realized ways in which my very own theology had matured. Fun times.

*This is the sort of information you don’t want to know, isn’t it? Oh well.

And speaking of fun times, I most recently had a book club discussion with the fine folks at The Book Worm Bookstore in Powder Springs. Naturally, those attending received their Book Club Badge. We had wine and Cheez-Its. I spilled some tea that you couldn’t get anywhere else because What-Happens-In-The-Book-Worm-Stays-In-The-Book-Worm. It’s like Vegas in that way. Please enjoy these pictures:

These badges can be yours if you have a book club discussion of Nobody’s Perfect. They were designed by my CP’s daughter, Hailey, and more are coming. Oh yes. But how cute are they? Abi, Vivian, and Rachel all reading a book. If you’re interested in merch with this design that just may be coming soon, too.

Okay. Fine. Back to Wrestling with Little Miss Petty. Hey, thanks for reading this far. I truly appreciate every person who supports me in any way. You just have no idea how humbling and how meaningful it is to have your work resonate with someone.

XOXO
